Lord John and the Private Matter

Lord John and the Private Matter - Diana Gabaldon I enjoyed this read quite a bit. It was a little predictable, but I expect that from the genre. The wit was dry, which I enjoyed. The writing was concise, so even though it was about a time when the writing could be unbearably flowery, this works well for the modern reader.

I thought it was better than average for historical fiction, and appreciated that the main character was gay. The biggest drawback was the long conversation at the end intended to fill in the holes.
