This was an excellent book. Longer than most books I sit down to read, I read it in three major chunks, setting it aside to get some other reading done for book club and just for light reading.
Though long, this book is not dry. The scholarship seems to be solid, but the voice is engaging, so it is not like reading a textbook. The author makes conjecture throughout the book, but he presents his reasoning, leaving you satisfied that it is a sound conclusion.
This book ends with the death of McKinley. I will probably read the other two books by the author that complete the story of Roosevelt.
